Indian Railways Halts Special Trains for Maha Kumbh Mela

New Delhi: With millions of devotees arriving at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh for the Maha Kumbh Mela, Indian Railways has taken a crucial decision to halt the special trains for the event. The trains will remain suspended until further orders. However, regular trains will continue to operate as usual. Due to the crowd on Mouni Amavasya day, the operation of special Maha Kumbh Mela trains from Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to Prayagraj has been stopped.

As a result, a large crowd of pilgrims gathered at the junction heading to Prayagraj. Other special trains running on different routes for the Kumbh Mela continue to operate as scheduled. Only the special trains from Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to Prayagraj have been suspended, but regular trains are still running. According to Manish Kumar, the Commercial Manager of the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Railway Division, the special trains will remain halted until further instructions are received.

Meanwhile, after a stampede incident at Prayagraj Kumbh, Indian Railways has heightened its vigilance. Rapid Action Force (RAF) and police forces have been deployed in large numbers at Prayagraj Junction. Tight security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of the devotees. Special measures have been taken to safely ferry pilgrims coming for the Mouni Amavasya ritual to the Sangam. Over 130 million devotees have already taken a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh, with nearly 100 million arriving for the Mouni Amavasya bath.
