"Relief for YS Jagan in the Supreme Court"
new Delhi: The Supreme Court bench has opined that there is no need for a special hearing on the petition seeking the cancellation of bail granted to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Consequently, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed by MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju, which sought to transfer the cases against Jagan.
On Monday, Raghurama Krishnam Raju's lawyer withdrew the petition seeking the cancellation of Jagan's bail. The Supreme Court bench heard this matter on January 27. Raju's lawyer brought to the court's attention that the trial in Jagan's assets case is not proceeding properly and alleged that hearings are being conducted only on Fridays and Saturdays.
Jagan's lawyer argued that special courts for MPs and MLAs' cases should conduct daily hearings. After considering the arguments, the Supreme Court ruled that there was no need for a separate hearing on the petition seeking the cancellation of Jagan's bail. Following this, Raghurama Krishnam Raju's lawyer requested permission to withdraw the petition, which the court granted.
The case was heard by a bench comprising Justice Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma. During the hearing, the bench listened to arguments from both petitioner Raghurama Krishnam Raju and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Ultimately, the Supreme Court dismissed Raju's petition seeking the transfer of cases against Jagan, thereby providing relief to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.
