Scarlett Johansson snaps at paparazzi while on set of new movie ‘Paper Tiger’: Move ‘out of the f–king way!’

Scarlett Johansson's message was not lost in translation. The actress, 40, was filming her upcoming crime drama 'Paper Tiger' in New York City on Thursday when she stopped to chastise a photographer. 'Move out of the way!' Johansson screamed while in the middle of shooting. 'I'm working.'

The 'Black Widow' star then shooed the person away with one hand. Johansson asked the individual to 'move out of the way' once again before yelling, 'out of the f–king way!' 'I'm working. You're working. Let me do my job,' Johansson continued. 'Be respectful.'

The Oscar-nominated winner sported a blazer, a blouse, and trousers for the scene in Queens. Johansson accessorized with glasses and wore a short, curly '80s-era wig. James Gray is directing the project, which also stars Adam Driver and Miles Teller. The movie follows two brothers who are in pursuit of the American Dream. Things don't go as planned, leaving them terrorized by the Russian mafia.

In May, Deadline reported that Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong were originally set to star in the film, but both dropped out due to other commitments. Filming commenced in New Jersey in June. Johansson came aboard on the heels of promoting 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' which hit theaters July 2.

Last month, the 'Fly Me to the Moon' actress also made headlines for sharing a quick peck on the lips with her co-star Jonathan Bailey on multiple occasions. First, the pair locked lips at their film's London premiere on June 17. Johansson and Bailey, 37, went on to share another kiss at the 'Jurassic World Rebirth' premiere in New York City later that month. Johansson's husband, Colin Jost, was in attendance at the time.

'I believe in being able to show love in all different ways. And if you can't kiss your friends… life's too short not to,' Bailey, who is openly gay, told Entertainment Tonight at the NYC premiere. After the carpet, while on an episode of 'Today,' host Craig Melvin told Johansson that he wanted to ask her about 'this kissing thing that you and Jonathan have been doing all over the world.' The anchor, 46, added that Bailey was 'so attractive,' to which Johansson replied, 'Yeah, you said it!' 'Is that why we keep planting lips on him?' Melvin inquired. 'He's a lovable guy, what can I say?' the actress responded. 'I don't know. We're just friendly people.'

When the journalist asked if Johansson is surprised by the public attention the friends' kisses have garnered, she told him, 'Nothing surprises me, you know what I mean?' 'Nothing surprises me these days,' quipped the Tony winner. 'But, yeah, I've got a lot of love to give, what can I say?' Jost, meanwhile, isn't fazed by their friendship. 'I guess in 'Jurassic Park' terms, the attack always comes from the Raptor you never thought,' the 'Saturday Night Live' star, 43, teased to ET on Thursday. 'Of all the threats out there, I wasn't thinking it was Jonathan.' 'People really blow it out of proportion,' Jost added. 'When someone kisses their friend hello. That's pretty nuts. Jonathan is an out gay man. It didn't seem like the biggest threat.' Which only leaves one thing for the comedian and actor to do. 'Jonathan and I were like, 'I guess we have to kiss now? Is that what happens? Close the loop,'' Jost joked.

The couple have been married since 2020 and are parents to son Cosmo, 3. The actress is also mom to daughter Rose, 10, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac. Jost has always been a staunch supporter of his wife, writing about his other half in his 2020 memoir 'A Very Punchable Face.' 'I've met someone I love and who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before,' he gushed. 'I feel more confident committing to what I'm working on and standing by whatever I create, regardless of whether people like it or not.'

In 2023, Johansson reaffirmed their partnership while on the 'Goop' podcast. 'I didn't know what I wanted or needed from somebody else. I think identifying those things was a game-changer for me,' she told host Gwyneth Paltrow. Johansson added that their union has been so successful because they 'move around the world in the same way.' 'I never realized, 'Oh, it's really important for me, I need to be with a compassionate person. That's a fundamental characteristic that has to be there,'' she expressed. 'It worked with Colin and I because I was finally able to step back and respect myself enough to know what those [fundamental wants and needs] were.'

Scarlett Johansson's career spans over two decades, beginning with her breakout role in 'The Horse Whisperer' (1998) and continuing with acclaimed performances in 'Lost in Translation,' 'Girl with a Pearl Earring,' 'Match Point,' and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow. She has been nominated for two Academy Awards and has won a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in 'A View from the Bridge.' Her production company, These Pictures, has been involved in several projects, including the film 'The Other Woman' and the series 'The Act.'

The incident on the set of 'Paper Tiger' is not the first time Johansson has had a confrontation with paparazzi. In 2019, she was photographed appearing frustrated with photographers while out in Los Angeles. The ongoing tension between celebrities and paparazzi has been a subject of debate, with many states enacting laws to protect stars from aggressive photographers. Johansson's outburst underscores the challenges actors face when trying to maintain focus on set amidst constant media attention.

'Paper Tiger' is expected to be a gritty crime drama, with James Gray at the helm. Gray is known for his work on 'The Lost City of Z,' 'Ad Astra,' and 'Armageddon Time.' The film's casting of Adam Driver and Miles Teller alongside Johansson promises strong performances. Driver and Johansson previously worked together on 'Marriage Story' (2019), for which both received Oscar nominations. Teller, known for 'Whiplash' and 'Top Gun: Maverick,' adds to the film's intensity.

The movie's plot centers on two brothers caught in a dangerous web involving the Russian mafia. This theme of organized crime and the pursuit of the American Dream resonates with Gray's previous explorations of ambition and failure. The setting in New York and New Jersey adds authenticity to the narrative. Filming began in June, and production is expected to continue through the summer.

Johansson's personal life also remains in the spotlight. Her marriage to Colin Jost, a writer and performer on 'Saturday Night Live,' has been a subject of public interest since their wedding in 2020. The couple welcomed their son Cosmo in 2021. Johansson's daughter Rose from her marriage to French journalist Romain Dauriac is also part of their blended family. Jost often shares humorous anecdotes about family life on social media and in interviews.

The 'Jurassic World Rebirth' promotional tour highlighted Johansson's easygoing rapport with co-star Jonathan Bailey. Their public kisses sparked media frenzy, but both actors have downplayed the significance. Bailey's candidness about his sexuality and Johansson's support for LGBTQ+ rights have been praised by fans. The duo's chemistry was evident during press events, where they often joked and posed together.

Johansson's advocacy extends beyond the red carpet. She has been involved in charitable work, including fundraising for COVID-19 relief, supporting women's rights organizations, and speaking out against sexual harassment in Hollywood. Her production company aims to tell diverse stories and provide opportunities for underrepresented voices. In 2021, she filed a lawsuit against Disney over the simultaneous release of 'Black Widow' on Disney+, which was later settled. The case highlighted the changing landscape of movie distribution in the streaming era.

As Johansson continues filming 'Paper Tiger,' fans eagerly await her return to the big screen in this new crime thriller. The project marks another collaboration with a respected director and a talented ensemble cast. With her proven track record and ability to draw audiences, Johansson remains one of Hollywood's most bankable stars. The paparazzi incident, while momentarily disruptive, does little to detract from her professional reputation.

In the end, Johansson's blunt demand for space on set reflects a broader desire for respect and professionalism. Celebrities often navigate a fine line between public engagement and personal privacy. Her insistence on being allowed to work without interference is a sentiment many can understand, regardless of fame. As she continues to balance blockbuster franchises with intimate dramas, Johansson's career shows no signs of slowing down.
